And the places I’ve been! Here at Rivendell we take great delight in providing a quiet place for our guests to get away for a while. Here are some scenes we see daily…
Strawberries !
May 24, 2010
Can you smell those berries? They’re here at Rivendell. Today I finished batch # 6 of strawberry jam. It usually becomes gifts for the family and friends at Christmas and it is such fun to make! The house smells wonderful and I’m certain the whole world can smell it…
C’mon on down; sit a spell at our cabins!

Relax a few…

Late yesterday we got the rest of the azalea bushes into the ground! Whew, what a big job that was. The yard here is loaded now with plenty of flowering shrub which will bloom along during the year and keep the drive up to the cabins delightfully brilliant! I’m noticing how lush all the growth is this year, so when the winter snows plague us and keep us homebound for days up here, I’ll just remember this year, that the results are a lush Spring. Now the trillium are blooming abundantly. I can hardly wait to see the huge wake robin again this year. I’m on the prowl!

Hummingbirds
April 25, 2010
The little guys have returned at last! The first sighting here at Rivendell was Tuesday, April 20. I’ve not seen them since but it’s great to welcome them back and remember their little songs (they don’t know any words so they hum along)
Hiking For Water
April 13, 2010
Met 2 hikers who are walking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, taking five months to make the 2000+ mile hike. Their reason is noble; they are hiking to raise funds for digging wells around the world. See their web page at http://HikingForWater.org/site to read more of what they are doing and their progress, and how to make donations.
We here at Rivendell felt the need to offer them a respite from the hike to recharge batteries, launder clothes, get supplies again before resuming their hiking. They are in the Cedars of Rivendell tonite and grateful for all the conveniences and Rivendell famous brownies…!
Their flags of peace are flying tonite and they are content; sunset was an amazing display for them here tonite!
Our Bradford Pear are nearly done blooming now but the show of dogwood is astounding. Make it a point to come on over and oooooo and ahhhhh with us here at Rivendell. See our site at http://bit.ly/aEs8wT and come visit us here soon!
