Honey Bees
August 24, 2011
This year there is a honey bee hive on the property at my home. I am fascinated by these little workers! They are amazing to watch and they are very intelligent. In the heat, they cool the hive by fanning their wings. They have been busy making honey. They drink a lot of water. I’ve been eating some of their efforts this week. It seems they are doing a ballet in this picture as they scavenger the pollen from this gorgeous magnolia blossom. Our honey is for sale but we offer a small sample to our guests who stay a week at our cabins, in addition to our precious and famous blackberry jam! Contact me for your October reservations and also our Christmas dates are getting calls already.
Oh, the things I have seen…

Relax a few…

Late yesterday we got the rest of the azalea bushes into the ground! Whew, what a big job that was. The yard here is loaded now with plenty of flowering shrub which will bloom along during the year and keep the drive up to the cabins delightfully brilliant! I’m noticing how lush all the growth is this year, so when the winter snows plague us and keep us homebound for days up here, I’ll just remember this year, that the results are a lush Spring. Now the trillium are blooming abundantly. I can hardly wait to see the huge wake robin again this year. I’m on the prowl!
