Bee Ballet

This year there is a honey bee hive on the property at my home. I am fascinated by these little workers! They are amazing to watch and they are very intelligent. In the heat, they cool the hive by fanning their wings. They have been busy making honey. They drink a lot of water. I’ve been eating some of their efforts this week. It seems they are doing a ballet in this picture as they scavenger the pollen from this gorgeous magnolia blossom. Our honey is for sale but we offer a small sample to our guests who stay a week at our cabins, in addition to our precious and famous blackberry jam! Gem mining in Franklin, NC

Today we went gem mining at Mason Mountain Mine in Franklin, NC. We all found a lot of big quality gems and the kids even dug some in the mine dirt. We had a fun day.
